Reflection

On Saturday 15 August 2020 the Church celebrated the Feast of the Assumption.  We recall that on this feast at the end of her earthly life, Mary was assumed body and soul into heaven.  Her entry into heaven, body and soul, is our destination and our destiny.

At this unique time in history that we are living, it is great to have this feast to remind us and help us to reflect on the reality that there is more to life than what we see here and there is a life for which we have been created that is beyond this world.  We have been created to share in the very life of God and be with Him for eternity.  Jesus came so that this is possible for us and this is the Good News.  At this time we need to hear the Good News.

God created us, He loves us and He wants to be in a relationship with us and draw us closer to Him both now and forever.  No matter what may be going on in the world or in our own personal world, this does not change.  God’s love, God’s care, God’s desire to be in relationship with us (which is beyond anything we could imagine) - these never change. There is always this love, this hope, this call, this destiny, this invitation.

As we continue to navigate through these times, may we have the grace to remember that God is with us, and that there is a joy and peace, that we have been created for and move towards that which far surpasses anything on this earth.  We have hope, we have faith, Holy Spirit help us to live in and grow in faith, hope and love.

Holy Family of Nazareth - be our inspiration and our guide.

Jesus of Nazareth - help us to grow in faith, wisdom and knowledge.
