The Premier's Reading Challenge will finish this term in September. Due to Covid19 students have been able to read any books within their reading abilities and record the title and author of the book.

Many classes have already finished and we look forward to all classes participating and the award ceremony in Term 4.

We all know there are many benefits of reading and being read to. For the times that you are tired and struggling to find the time to engage with reading with your child have a look at the statistic below and know that you are doing a great thing for their future.... 

THE IMPORTANCE OF READING

Student A

·         Reads for 20 minutes per day

·         Will read 18 000 000 words per year

·         Scores in the 90th percentile ( top bracket) of international testing

          of literacy        

Student B

·         Reads for 5 minutes per day

·         Will read 282 000 words per year

·         Scores in the 50th percentile (medium bracket) of international  

          testing of literacy

Student C

·         Reads for 1 minute per day

·         Will read 8000 words per year

·         Scores in the 10th percentile (low bracket) of international  testing 

          of literacy
