School Principal Update

Verity Walker

Please see below for an update from our school council president, Verity Walker, with regards to the Principal position from 2023, at Carnegie PS.

On behalf of the School Council, I am pleased to advise that we will be welcoming Ms Karen Roberts to the Carnegie PS community in the role of Principal from term 1, 2023. Karen has held the role of Acting Principal of Kingston Heath PS for some considerable time, is highly regarded for her instructional and technical leadership and is very well respected for her leadership and management of Kingston Heath PS. Previously, she has held the role of Assistant Principal at Kingston Heath and Sandringham East PS and has extensive experience as both a classroom and specialist teacher. We are pleased to have secured such a highly respected leader for our school and know that she will bring an unwavering commitment to education, placing students at the centre, and build positive relationships with students, staff and families. We have no doubt Karen will honour and promote the values of Carnegie PS, whilst also supporting consistent and innovative teaching practices that stretch performance in a positive, engaging environment that values the growth and development of all learners within the Carnegie PS community. Karen is looking forward to visiting the school over the coming weeks to meet with staff and students before the holiday period and we will take this opportunity to celebrate her appointment and share with her some of the goals and aspirations for the school for the year ahead.  The school council would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Matthew Vines who will continue in the capacity of Acting Principal for the remainder of the term. Matthew has been warmly received by students and staff and his leadership of the whole school planning for the 2023 school year has been invaluable.
