Visual Art 

Term 4 in Visual Art for Year 6 is an opportunity to continue to explore and complete previous Units of Inquiry. 

 

Students To Create - 

  • Completion of Self-Portraits in readiness for the BNPS Archibald Exhibition. 
  • Finishing off the Hermannsburg Potters inspired ceramic piece. 
  • Pop-up puppet inspired by Dreamer Puppet Incursion. Creating and constructing an alien puppet that integrates with Year 6 exploration of the Unit of Inquiry on Space.

Term Focus And Topics

 

How much do you remember!?  (Introducing myself in Japanese, recognizing HIRAGANA characters and learning about a life of Japanese people).

Learning  Task    

The Japanese Learning Task for Year six students focuses on the important sentences and all HIRAGANA characters they have been learning since prep.  

 

By Making A Self- Introduction Booklet

  • They will showcase their writing skills in Japanese, spell their name, age, grade
  • Describe what they like 
  • Their nationality 
  • Family/pets in HIRAGANA, KATAKANA and KANJI characters).  
  • If they have a chance to speak to Japanese students (ARAKAWA Primary School) on Skype, they are expected to say what they have learnt in Japanese. Students will be assessed on their achievement by presenting the self- introduction booklet. They are expected to use the correct sentence structure and spelling in Japanese for the task. 

Students will be notified through Compass when feedback on this Learning Task becomes available.     

 

Physical Education 

  

The term 4 unit we are focusing on is

 'Who we Are' 

  

 Focus – Game Sense/Game Strategies 

  

  • Focus will be on Lacrosse, Volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee 
  • Continue developing the use of strategies, teamwork, cooperation and commitment in a game. They continue learning to undertake a variety of roles, such as umpire, coach and team manager. Students are developing skills in how they play a game, sportsmanship and leadership qualities instilled in their performance outcomes. 
  • They are continuing to able to develop skills in a game both as an individual and as part of a group and learning to discuss how to apply those skills into making a game successful or not. 

  

Concepts: Perspective-Looking at different understandings of the way children perceive rules and whether these tactics are successful or not.

Library  

  

All students are encouraged to borrow books from the Library. The focus is on reading for enjoyment, interest and information. The children also have the opportunity to practise their borrowing skills and further their love of reading. 

 

The Library program also supports and extends the units of inquiry being studied in each year level and provides classrooms with resources to enrich the units offering varied forms of information.
