Year 7 News

Vermont Secondary College

As we progress through the term towards the end of the year it is worth revisiting some very important reminders about homework and using a diary effectively. Teachers encourage students to write in their diaries any upcoming due dates and more ideally communicate with parents at home. It is amazing how when we all work together we can achieve so much.

Homework includes answering questions provided by the teacher or from a textbook; participating in online discussions with classmates, and group projects or presentations.

Studying refers to time spent reading and processing material, either to review what's already been covered, or to prepare for future classes and tests.

The real secret to getting the most out of your school diary is to use it! Get into a routine of checking your diary each morning and each night. This will give you an opportunity not only to see what activities are coming up, but also to update your diary with anything you need to add that came up that day.

Preparations for 2023

A further reminder also that Student Managers are in the process of organising class groups for next year. Our goals in mixing the groups is to further develop and maximise students’ academic capacity, social capabilities, as well as general wellbeing and resilience. Students can expect considerable changes to class groupings, within the confines of the House system.  We welcome parent input and consider your feedback along with students and of course the classroom teachers. Please email the Student Manager with any concerns you have.

Transition to 2023 Classes

In addition to grouping students for the 2023 school year, it is important to note that our Year 7 students will commence the 2023 academic year into Year 8, on Monday November the 28th. The Transition program will run for two weeks and is part of the overall school program.

In preparation for this,  Friday 25th of November will be a Staff Planning Day (Pupil Free Day).
