Attendance, Absences and Early Departures

An Important note on attendance procedures.

Protecting the safety and well-being of students through the reporting and monitoring of absenteeism is the responsibility of both parents/carers and schools.

Please remember to log your child’s absence using Compass early in the morning if your child is going to be away, or late for school, so your child’s absence can be recorded correctly.

A Compass attendance note, providing parental permission and reason for a student’s early departure, is required prior to a student’s early departure from the campus.

Unexplained absences should be kept up to date. Please review and provide attendance notes for all Unexplained absences.

Student Unexplained absences can be viewed in the Compass browser. Select: Add Attendance Note and then select the “Unexplained” tab.

If you are having difficulty logging into Compass, please call the school on (03) 8872 6300 or email at Vermont.sc@education.vic.gov.au to request assistance.

Notifying the school of your child’s absence either prior to, or on the day that they will be away, helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and will fulfil your legal responsibility.

If your are not sure how to enter an absence into Compass please have a look at the attached Quick Reference Guide.
