The Adventures of Frankie & Ash

School Support Dogs

Well we have quite a lot to report this fortnight!!  Firstly, Ash and I are very proud to announce that we are the winners of the inaugural Banyule Best Pet Award!!!!!

Ash got to go with mum and dad and get a Very Special ceremony but I had to stay home because I was poorly with something the vet calls "kennel cough" and mum and dad call "Frankie for goodness sake please stop coughing so we can all get some sleep".

A big thank you to Banyule City Council and everyone at St Helena who voted for us.   Mum said the Deputy Mayor got quite emotional when she was giving her speech about the value of dogs in schools.  We have won a special portrait of US by pawtraitsbykim (check out her Instagram page)  which will be hung at school, as well as a $150.00 Petbarn voucher (yum, TREATS) and something called a trophy which mum and dad won't let us near because it looks like it may be very good to chew.  So we are Very Very Happy especially because .... TREATS.  We also got lots of cuddles from Mum and Dad because we are the Best Pets.

This was a Very Good thing to happen because a Very Bad thing happened on the Cup weekend.   Mum and Dad took us to Beach, which is our favourite thing in the world . On the first day we went out for breakfast and then to Beach where we got to run, and roll in the sand, and swim and run, and roll in the sand.   When we got home I had a funny feeling in my tummy that turned in to a big BLACH.  But the funny feeling didn't go away and there were several more BLACHES and then Dad said we had better go to the vet so I could feel better.  On the way there in the car Ash did a big BLACH too and Mum said "uh oh".   There were lots of BLACHES in the car on the way to Geelong and Mum looked very green.   Dad said something about "just squash the car after this" but Ash and I didn't care because of the sore tummies and BLACHES.

When we got to the vet we did more BLACHES for her and she said we needed to stay in Hospital.  We got our tummies shaved and had to have some needles and a big lie down with something called an "IV".   Luckily we felt much better the next morning and got to have some chicken before Mum and Dad picked us up.   Mum and Dad were very sad because of something called "Bait" and "Poison" that the vet said had made us very sick.

But we felt much better and were able to run and swim on Beach later that day with Mum, Dad and our human sister and her boyfriend.    It was good they were there to look after us because Mum and Dad had to buy some funny stuff in spray bottles, and lots of cloths to clean the car and they were Very Busy.

Dad says Ash and I have cost more in vet fees than our purchase prices.  I don't know what he means, but I know he loves us.

That is all.
