VCE Head Start Program - Vocational Major

Year 10
Our Head Start Year 11 2023 VCE Vocational Major class were asked to prepare and organise a BBQ to raise money for an organisation called Foodbank Victoria.
Foodbank Victoria is an organisation that delivers food to the unfortunate and homeless people around Victoria around the holiday season and also throughout the year. Some people in Victoria can’t afford a big Christmas as they are struggling to have food on their plates for just their day to day lives.
As a class, we planned everything - from prices to sausages and veggie burgers. Everyone did their part in researching and planning before the BBQ day came. When Tuesday 6th December came along, everyone had a job to do, whether it was to collect equipment, frozen foods and sauces from the food room or to make the area we were cooking look approachable.
One of my classmates was in charge of picking out music so people would gravitate towards us to purchase our $2.50 snag with sauce and/or grilled onions, our $2.00 cold drinks and our $4.00 veggie burger with sauce.
At the end of the day, we raised $437.20 for Foodbank Victoria! It was a fun experience. Everyone in the class did their part and put in effort to create a great fun activity, and to raise money for an important organisation to help those less fortunate during the holiday season!
