Sailing Taster Afternoon

The College has partnered with the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania (RYCT) to offer year 5 – 8 students the opportunity to explore the sport of sailing at a dedicated Mount Carmel College Sailing Taster Afternoon on Tuesday 29 November from 4pm – 6:30pm at the RYCT, Marieville Esplanade, Sandy Bay.  Students will be introduced to sailing in a fun, safe, non-competitive environment, with qualified instructors, at no cost.   The afternoon will include an accredited introductory program, with potential for a follow-on opportunity to complete the full course in term 1, 2023.

If you would like your daughter to participate in the Sailing Taster Afternoon, please sign up through the online sign up on the College website prior to Friday 18 November.

Basketball Championships

This weekend the College will be represented by three teams at the Basketball Tasmania High School Basketball Championships.  Year 7/8 in division 1 and 2, and Year 9/10 in division 2.  Division 1 teams that finish in the top 3 at this event, will also have the opportunity to progress to a State Final at the end of the month.  Good luck to participating teams.  Rosters and results will be available on the Play HQ website.

Sport Review

We are currently reviewing a range of aspects of the college sports program including the sports offered, suitability of rosters, accessibility, carnivals and communications.  We are sourcing feedback from students, coaches, parents and carers.  Please look out for the survey coming out via email and take the time to consider and provide your thoughts that will help to improve Mount Carmel sport into the future.
