From the Principal

Last week at School Council, the parent representative group approved the final curriculum day of the year for Tuesday 20th December. Students will not be required at school on this day, therefore, all students will finish at 3.20pm on Monday 19th December.  Staff will be taking part in a day of professional learning around student wellbeing and mental health on this day. We felt this date would have the least impact on students and families.

On Friday 2nd December, staff will be taking part in professional learning around best practice in the classroom and working in teams to prepare for the 2023 school year. Students are not required at school on this day.

Due to an increase in COVID cases in the community, I would like to remind the parent community of the current DET guidelines.

  • Students who report a positive result are recommended to isolate for a minimum of 5 days and not attend school until their symptoms have resolved.
  • Parents/carers should complete the Student COVID-19 COVID Test Portal if a student tests positive to COVID-19 (via a PCR or rapid antigen test) or notify the school directly. Where a parent/carer informs the school by phone or written notification, the school should complete the Schools COVID Case Management Tool.
  • Staff and students who wish to wear a face mask should be supported to do so, and schools should continue to make face masks available for staff, students and visitors.
  • The Department of Health recommends that masks should be worn by a person who is a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 when leaving home.

Teachers are currently in the middle of their assessment period for end of term report writing. We are continuing to see some great gains in student learning and teachers are really happy with the learning that has occurred this year for all students.

Due to the large focus on assessments this fortnight, this newsletter does not contain year level pages.

I would like to remind parents that students are not to arrive at school prior to 8.30am, our yard is not supervised until then. Any student arriving before 8.30am will need to wait on the chairs outside the office.  If there is an occasion when you do need to drop your child off early, please contact me to make arrangements. Your child's safety is our priority.
