Music Update

With 2020 behind us, music at JMSS has gone supernova during Term One of 2021! All of our ensembles are back and firing on all cylinders. We have been rehearsing our Concert Band, Orchestra, String Ensemble, Choir, Stage Band, Pep Band, and Percussion Ensemble each week, and the bands are sounding fantastic.

This term, we started with some smaller instrument group Soirees. During week seven, the JMSS Music Department presented a Vocal and Choir Soiree on Tuesday evening, followed by a Piano Soiree on Thursday. In week eight, the VCE Performance Musicians presented some material they are working on for their Unit 4 performances, as well as the Stage Band playing some fantastic swing and blues charts.

This final week, on Tuesday evening, Maestro Jules Cseszko presented the JMSS String Ensemble with featured soloists performing an evening of Vivaldi. All soirees were excellent and the musicians have been revelling in our ability to perform in front of a live audience once again.

Music Camp has gone live on compass, please be sure to book in fast! Music Camp will run from the 6th until the 8th of May. Please also keep an eye out for our next school concert which will be the Winter Concert, on the 3rd of June. From all the teachers in the Music Department, have a nice holiday break, but make sure to keep practicing your instruments!
