Car parking - Child Care Centre

Just a gentle reminder to not use the Child Care car park for parking, drop offs or for turning around.

Monash are looking into measures like boom gates and change of entrance location to reduce this happening.

The safety of the young children and families during the busy periods of drop offs and pick ups is important.

Thank you

Lab Update - Term One

Hi everyone.

I am Erika one of the Lab techs here at JMSS. Below is a photo of the Lab Team. We are a happy bunch who are always around to help with all your lab needs.

Let’s introduce the team

There is Anna she is the lab manager. Her areas of interest are Chemistry and Earth science. She loves spending time in the labs learning about all the pracs you are doing and how they work as well as making sure everything is safe for us to run the many demos your teachers ask for.

Nishani is our resident Biologist. She specializes in Microbiology, Biotech, general Biology and Chemistry. She loves being in the labs with the students looking down the microscopes and checking to make sure your pracs will work on the day. She is often found in one of the prep rooms upstairs on level 2 trialling experiments or coming up with something new.

Chris likes Physics, Chemistry and Biology. He often found with something that needs fixing on his desk. He is a wiz at anything Physics but also likes getting into the bio classes and playing with the data loggers. If there is a problem Chris is the man to fix it.

Then there is me. Erika. I love Biotech, Microbiology, Earth Science and yes Chemistry (kind of a given I suppose). I am the person that is usually asking your teachers if they are ok during class and if there is a dissection beware I am always there to hand out the specimens.

Just a few reminders from the Lab Team.

  1. If you have purchased safety glasses from the Compass event us please come and see us in our office at the back of 1L3 we have lots of pairs that have been purchased and only a few that have been collected.
  2. Please remember your lab coats at the start of term. Your teachers will be doing pracs in the first week back I can guarantee that.
  3. We are always happy to answer any questions you have about the labs or help with research projects for science fairs. Please don’t be afraid to ask your teachers or come and see us in the lab office in 1L3 anytime.

Exciting announcement.

The JMSS lab team is proud to announce the arrival of 4 baby frogs to our JMSS family. We have 2 green tree frogs and 2 white lipped tree frogs. Please keep eyes out for an email from your STEM captains about a naming competition that will take place in term 2.

Well for now I wish to leave you with a science pun because who doesn’t love a pun.

See you all soon. Erika.

Congratulations Vibha!

Congratulations to Vibha Srinivasan for winning "Top ranked speaker at the DAV Women's Competition."

The DAV Women's Competition is a debating tournament held exclusively for women, with the aim of supporting and encouraging female-identifying students. Historically women have been underrepresented in debating and as such DAV has offered this unique opportunity for them to further develop their skills in a friendly environment outside of the main Schools Competition.
