Deputy Principal's Update

“Teaching children about the natural world should be treated as one of the most important events in their lives.”

Thomas Berry

Dear Parents,

Schools are such a wonderful, vibrant and busy place and like the world around us we get to experience many different things.

Over the past fortnight we have had many students make the most of these opportunities. Miss Miller and three of our Year 5 students got up close to seals and dolphins as part of our involvement in the Dolphin Research Institute. This kick starts a program where the students will learn about how we as humans impact the world around us.  The students will learn about how to share this knowledge with our school by being involved in important research and then teaching each of our grades about their findings. We look forward to hearing about their learning journey.

LitSTEM - Padua

We are also involved in a partnership with Padua to explore Literacy (and other areas) through STEM.  Our Year 5's started work last Friday with Year 9's from Padua's Drama Club.  They explored sustainability through literacy and also had lots of fun learning some new games!

Prime Minister's Spelling Bee

On Monday I will be conducting the Spelling bee competition with over 30 of our Year 3-6 students who have entered.  It is the beginning of a national competition to find the best speller in Australia!  I wonder who our Fatima champ will be?

It's not too late to enter so please email me at: dperry@fatimarosebud.catholic.edu.au if your child is interested.

Harmony Day

Tomorrow (Friday) we look forward to having a wonderful celebration of all the cultures that make Fatima such a wonderful place.  A big thank you to our Harmony Day team (Mrs Ibrahim, Mr. Koole, Mrs Heggen, Mrs Kostopoulos & others!) for planning such a special day.  We also have lots of parent helpers all set to go as well-it is great to have you all here this year!

Lastly-good luck to Collingwood (and whichever team you barrack for) in the season ahead.  It's great to have footy back-I have loved watching the AFLW competition over the past months, a great celebration of skill and commitment.

I am collecting photos for our Footy day this year, so if you go to any games this year (AFLW, A-league, NRL, AFL, country footy etc.) please send in a photo for us to use later this year.  My email address is at the end of my page.

Have a wonderful week!
