Year 7 Girls Cricket
Please note, due to the Climate Rally being held on March 15, we are currently negotiating to change the date of our Athletics Carnival. We will keep all families informed once this has been confirmed.
This week saw us kick off with our Division Cricket Competitions for seniors, Year 7’s and Year 8’s.
The team were forced to bat their 15 overs through constant rain. Our score of 0/125 was too big of an ask for Lalor Secondary College even though they batted in dry conditions. Their score was 5/97. Our team was well led by batting stars Alex Johnston and Julian Marshall who made 60 runs each.
Both teams won on the day with our girls displaying great talent beating Lalor 175 to 87.
Our boys won all 4 matches with their closest result against new school Preston High. Unfortunately we could not get a photo of the year 7 boys teams as they finished late with the bus driver hurrying us up. Overall a great day for our new Year 7’s.
Craig Price
We thank Mr Price for his continual contribution to our Sport Department.
With no other teams entered in our Division, our Year 8 Girls advanced straight through to regionals which will be played in Term 4.
In the boys competition Northcote Gold had an easy win over William Ruthven 80-12. In their second match against Thornbury our boys fielded first with Thornbury finishing up with 50 runs, our boys came out strong and managed to chase the 50 and won the game with two and a half overs to go. Northcote Gold were overall winners on the day and now move through to the Regional Finals which is to be played in Term 4.
Northcote Purple had a close first match only to lose to Thornbury in the last over. In their second match, the boys all combined well to defeat William Ruthven by 8 runs. We would like to thank our Student Coaches, Ethan McKenzie, Tom Heaton and Miles Fricke who were a great help throughout the day. We would also like to thank Mr Bartholomew for all of his help with Team Selection and coaching and scoring on the day.
