Green Team is back for 2019! - Everyone Welcome

Come join green teem, it is a great way to make change within the school and broader community. We are looking forward to many projects, events and activities this year and have four main goals, which are: 

• Significantly reduce waste (in particular food and plastics).
• Improve flora & fauna biodiversity.
• Increase the school’s amount of renewable energy.
• Raise awareness about environmental issues and what everyone can do.

This year we hope to; revegetate the Merri creek with indigenous plants, go camping and plant trees, host Bee-hotel making workshops, screen environmental films, do bake-sales, screen-print cool designs on t-shirts, make bees wax wraps, lead campaigns to achieve our goals and much more.

Here’s some of the things we did last year; we went on a tree planting camp where we spent a few days away from the city planting trees and habitat for the endangered regent honeyeater and other wildlife. Within the school we also made and taught others how to make beeswax wraps (to replace gladwrap), we screened films to raise awareness, we had bake sales and of course went on strike to demand political action on global warming.

We are in the midst of dangerous global warming and the sixth mass extinction, there has never been a more important time to be involved in the movement to protect the Earth. We need as many people as possible. Every little action affects the planet, what impact are you having?
