Dear all

Thank you all for a wonderful Term 1!

Your children have been a joy to work with and everyone deserves a well earned rest. That rest may be closer to home than we may have hoped with lots of holidays happening in Victoria. Have a blessed and restful Easter and enjoy your family and friends.

I'd like to thank the staff for all the time, talent and energy they put into this great school. We have an incredible team and I am privileged to work with them.  I'd like to highlight several staff members who are doing exceptional work in new roles. Melinda Phyland as a new Diversity Leader continues to be amazing in the way she cares for and caters for our students and parents - particularly for those families involved in PSGs. 

Gai Cooke has bee instrumental in supporting me as we head into school review next term. Gai is preparing and reviewing policies around compliance that are required in all schools. Thank you Melinda and Gai! Also thank you to Jenny Keely for the time she puts into our school which is always much more than her official one day per week. The beautiful liturgies and prayer spaces and preparation for Advent  are testimony to the work she supports the staff with.

Parents and Friends

Huge thank you to those who are able to support our P&F. The Class Reps will be organised and we will be in touch in the first couple of days in Term 2.

Thank you for helping with the inaugural sausage sizzle where we raised approx $400 !

 It was a great opportunity to catch up. We received great feedback about the event, so we are going to trial running it monthly. We will aim for the last Friday of the month dependent on term times.

Our Easter Raffle raised almost $1000

And the final cake stall sale raised nearly $400

Performing Arts

We have employed a Performing Arts teacher to direct our school musical on Nov 22nd. We are very happy to announce that St Joseph's will be performing Shrek Junior. All auditions and rehearsals will be shared with you via a dedicated website early next term. 

Junior Joey's

As part of our commitment to engage with the community and promote enrolment at St Joseph's, we are initiating a new program called Junior Joeys. During Term 2 we are opening the gates and inviting 3 and 4 year olds in the community to come and spend some time with us and experience a taste of school life. Please let friends and neighbours know! 

Emergency Evacuations Drills

Last week we had a whole school evacuation drill which went really well. The students and staff (and visitors) were all evacuated and accounted for in under 3 minutes of the alarm sounding. We will perform emergency drills each term so we are all prepared and can respond appropriately.

Community (Joey's) Hub

Next term we would like to offer parents the opportunity to advertise in our school newsletter. We want to support our community and connect people. So if you have a business or have ideas for a Joey's Hub and you would like to advertise in the newsletter - look out for an Operoo early next term. At this stage there is no cost associated, we prefer to help our community serve our community. 

Sacramental Dates 

First Communion will be an evening service at St Joseph's and will be the 26th May at 6pm.

Reconciliation will be the Thursday 20th May in school at 10.15am
