Dear Parents/Carers, Families and College Community

Last weekend I spent some time at the Busselton camp and saw the students enjoying beautiful weather, the beach and each other’s company.  The water was perfect; crystal clear and lovely temperature and stinger free!

My thanks to Jodee Sayer who was the main organiser, and to those staff who attended and made the weekend such a success.

Afterhours' Activities

This term was already short, but made shorter by the shut down and will pass very quickly. It is also extremely busy with lots going on and it is important that staff, students and families keep up with what is happening. Events that students can get involved with this term include;

  • Wagin Woolorama - Saturday 6th March with all competitors and spectators invited.
  • WACoA Sports Carnival - is the weekend of Week 7 with teams of 50 competitors.
  • Formal Dinner - is Wednesday of the last week of term with all students invited.
  • Trades workshop opens after school on Monday (Auto) and Tuesday (Metals).
  • English and Maths ATAR tutoring is after school on Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Classroom Teaching staff are  available for prep support on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Horse riding two afternoons a week after the long weekend.

In addition, we are developing programs for a number of other afterhours' activities such as cooking lessons for Year 12’s in residence, plumbing skills, Cattle Club and physical recreation.

Music - A formal music program is offered by an external provider and this is a great way of accommodating those of our students who have some musical talent or wish to learn to play.

We have had to adjust the way this is financed and will be charging students for the tuition, plus a small fee to access the College music room, instruments and equipment. See attached details.

Year 10 Board Representative

The College Board plays an important role in overseeing the College Business Plan and priorities, reviewing performance data, approving fees and ensuring the finances align to the needs of our students and expectations of the Department.

The Board is not involved with day to day school operations, staff management, nor are they an avenue for complaints. The Board is made up of staff, parent, community and student representatives meeting once each term, normally aligned to collecting students for end of term or closed weekends.

We are seeking nominations for a Year 10 parent representative to join the Board. Please contact me if you are interested or have any questions about the role.

Student Recruitment 2022

Interviews for 2022 prospective students will commence next week using a different format to previous years. We will be conducting interviews each Tuesday morning and the prospective students and their families will  get a tour of the facility and a presentation on how the College operates.

We will not run Tryouts this year but plan on a Transition Program for those accepted later in Term 4. Given the demand for places I would urge any of our College community with friends or family interested in attending, to get their applications in.

Have a great weekend
