Level Low Downs

Visual Arts

This week in the art room the Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students explored how paper can change in a variety of ways, such as fringing, ripping, curling and folding. The Prep students are working towards creating a paper garden for an Easter Bunny. The Year 1 students are working towards building their paper sculpture skills before creating a 3D paper bird and the Year 2 students will be choosing their own landscape to create with paper, linking to their inquiry unit. The Year 3 and 4 students have begun their exploration into Printmaking. This week we have created monoprints on Perspex. A monoprint is a print which can only be created once!

Year Prep

On Monday 22nd February we had a Teddy Bears' Picnic to celebrate learning about the letter T.  We took our teddy bears outside to meet our Year 6 buddies and their teddies. We enjoyed a yummy picnic lunch with our buddies and teddies. The Teddy Bears then joined us in the classroom to practise counting to ten. It was a TERRIFIC day!

Year One

The Year 1 students have had a wonderful fortnight. We have explored place value in Maths, practised our Months of the Year song, written an email to Ms Skewes and made ‘friendship soup’ in our GEM lesson. During investigations we have built shelters, discovered how to run a Farmers’ Market and used a train to carry supplies in from a farm.

Year Two

The Year 2 teaching team would like to thank those parents who were able to join us via the Webex link for our Information Session. Our intention was to give you an overview of what teaching and learning looks like at our school, why it is important to support your child's learning at home and how you can keep informed and engaged with the school community. The session was recorded and there will be the opportunity for those who missed out on joining in to view it on Compass later.

Year Three

Over recent days, the Year 3 students have participated in a hockey clinic organised by Mr. Lilburne. They all learnt skills and drills and enjoyed the sessions immensely!

Year Four

The Year 4 students have started their week on a high with the introduction of the BYOD program. All students received their learning devices on Monday and have been immersing themselves into the launch sessions. So far, the students have been introduced to OneNote, Teams and lots of fun online learning programs. The students have shown maturity and responsibility and we are very proud of them!

Year Five

A very busy couple of weeks in Year 5. We loved our first week of interschool sport, competing against other schools in the local area was a lot of fun. We are all looking forward to our next double header tomorrow.

As part of our History Inquiry unit this term, we have started our ‘Expert Pods’,  learning about the experiences during the Gold Rush from the perspective of three different cultures.

Year Six

This week the Year 6 students officially stepped into their leadership roles, receiving their badges at the Investiture assembly. It was a great experience for all students and they particularly enjoyed hearing from the 2015 BPS School Captains when they were in Prep and the words of wisdom they imparted. Well done to this year's school captains, Sam and Annabel, for their impressive speeches, in which they shared their visions for 2021. The This week the Year 6 students also had a marvellous time with their buddies at the Teddy Bears' Picnic.
