School News

The Seaside District Swimming Championships saw around 240 students from the eight schools in our district competing for the chance to represent the district at the Division Competition in March.

Students swam in 35 races on the day including individual events in four strokes, freestyle relays and the medley relay. The students did a great job in getting to school super early to start at MSAC at 9:30am. It’s a good thing swimmers are used to early starts! MSAC is a wonderful venue for our District competition and the support provided by parent helpers, COVID marshals, stadium staff and teachers made for a smooth running program. Thank you to everyone involved.

Our team of 45 swimmers took on the challenge of the 50m pool with a mixture of nerves and excitement and revelled in the chance to cheer on their teammates during close finishes and to encourage all swimmers. Several multiclass events had the whole grandstand cheering and clapping furiously.

For many students this was their first opportunity to take part in a District competition. Congratulations to Henry (50m breaststroke) and Toby (50m backstroke) who will be representing Beaumaris and the District at the Division.  Good luck to everyone in their swimming development. It was fantastic to see so many students involved in an exciting sporting event knowing that they are all developing vital water safety skills at the same time.
