From the Heads of Boarding
Welcome to our first 2021 Boarding Buzz. This is our primary means for sharing information about Boarding at GSG and will now be delivered to you three times a term. It has been a super busy start, getting things organised for the term and year ahead. The opening to any year is always hectic and we both enjoy the buzz of excitement as ideas, plans and calendars all become organised.
Last week at our Parent Committee meeting we discussed communication in boarding going forward and the committee asked for more communication per house. In response to this we are in the process of setting up messenger apps for those parents interested in being part of a year group. Through messenger, photos and information can be shared in an instant format for the families of the students in that specific group. As with any group, there are some guidelines to direct the use of this platform. Please find the messenger rules here.
A number of parents on the committee have offered to be responsible for various year groups in each house. Please contact the individual if you would like to be included in the messenger group. We are still keen to have a Year Ten parent for the girls group volunteer.

Additionally, it was suggested that the Year Twelve parents arrange a dinner while the Year Twelve Ball is taking place and Rachael Plowman and Anita Penny have offered to organise this. If parents have other plans that is fine, but they would love to meet anyone who is around. Please let Rachael know if you are interested (and if you have any brilliant ideas for a venue). We have also increased the frequency for the emailing of the Boarding Buzz. It will now go out each term in Weeks Three, Six and Nine. The Week Three version will be information for the term, menus, recreation, staffing, etc and the Week Six and Nine editions will be like previous issues.

Prep Schedule
Please note, in addition to the adult tutors, a number of senior students are volunteering each evening to go to the Middle School houses to assist with prep. This is a wonderful initiative by the 2021 Year Twelve group and we thank them for being so proactive. You can find the Boarding Academic Roster here

Please note the kitchen does occasionally make changes due to availability of food.
Boarding Parent Information Pages
We would like to apologise for the Boarding Parent Information Pages not being updated prior to the start of the school year. This has now been rectified and you can access them on MyGSG here.
Dry Cleaning
We have had queries about the dry cleaning of school uniforms. We offer a dry cleaning service. If you would like to have your student’s uniform dry cleaned, simply ask one of our staff. The items will be dropped off, picked up and charged to your account. This is a great service for the end of term, ensuring your child’s uniform is all ready when they return.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any issues or concerns. We want the lines of communication to be constantly open.
