What a busy start to the year.  It seems like we just got back into the swing of things and it's already the long weekend.

Basketball

Mr Jones' basketball teams in the local Harvey competition both finished near the top of the ladder and will start the finals series next week. It is great to see both the boys and girls doing so well in this competition and we wish them well in the finals.

Local Footy

This week we had the Harvey Bulls Football Club come out to the College to talk about the club, what teams they have and what they can offer our students in the upcoming season. This was well received by the students and we had 21 male and female students attend training last night.

Zooper Doopers

These frozen ice blocks have become extremely popular here in Residence, which is understandable with the hot weather.  However, the amount that some students are consuming has become a concern for staff.  Many students are having five or six of an evening and staff report that it appears to be effecting their behaviour.

We ask that you might have a conversation with your son/daughter about the amount of artificial flavours, colourings and preservatives these contain and how, if they over indulge, it may affect them.

Team Building

Early last year at a staff PD day,  a presenter brought along four "cars" for staff to dismantle and rebuild in a particular order, under strict conditions, timed and in a team environment. This was one of the best  team building days I have ever been involved in.

Mr Curran has spent many hours of his own time putting together four tractors along the same lines as the cars. The students are yet to have a go at the exercise, but I am sure it will be amazing when they do.

Afterhours' Activities

Last night we had Charlotte Mills run the first craft class of the year.  There were nine students who undertook an introduction to macrame which was great to see.

We also has music and basketball practice happening at the same time.

Thankyou to Mornington Dorm

Well done to the students in Mornington dorm for their improvement in and around the bathroom area.  This is greatly appreciated by staff, keep up the good work.
