Year 3/4 News

Assembly

We congratulate the students of Year 3/4 LC who hosted a fantastic assembly last Friday for the entire school. Not only did students prepare for the assembly so well, but they spoke with clarity when addressing their audience.

The Year 3 and 4 students were able to run through our Mathematical learning on the topic of Data. They shared examples of graphs and data tables, and even took the time to test other students in the audience on their knowledge.

Reconciliation and Lent

As we progress through Lent students have been reflecting on the concepts and themes of this Holy Season. They have been thinking about the purpose of Lent, and how we try and turn towards the Lord and meaningfully apologise for the things we would like to do better in our lives. Please find below some statements students were able to make about the Lenten period.

‘Lent is the 40 day countdown before Easter, where we try and give something up or take on something extra. The 40 days is similar to the amount of time Jesus spent in the desert Fasting and Praying.’ Maeve

‘We give up things that we love, to show that we are being serious, and turn towards God.’ Banjo

‘When Jesus was in the desert he prayed every day to God, and went without food and water, so we can try to give up something as well.’ Olivia

‘During Lent I am trying to give up rushing with things, and also try to donate some money to Caritas for their word with the poor.’ Jadeen

This time also fits in with our Sacrament of Reconciliation which students have begun to learn about in class. They will learn the practices of the Sacrament itself, as well as read stories from the bible such as The Prodigal Son and the Parable of the Lost Sheep, thinking about the themes of forgiveness and acceptance.

We remind parents that the Reconciliation Family Night is taking place on Tuesday the 9th of March, 7.00 to 8.00 PM. Information about this night was sent through with the last Class News, but please contact your class teacher if you require more information.
