Education In Faith Leader - Sue Lema

This newsletter we welcome Autumn and the continuation of the season of Lent. Each week, the children have been gathering on a Monday afternoon to reflect on their Lenten promises through a whole school prayer service lead by the Social Justice Leaders and to learn about our Catholic Social Teaching Principles.

During Lent, we are focusing on the Preferential Option for the Poor. Caring for those who are less fortunate is everyone’s responsibility. Preferential care should be shown to vulnerable and marginalised people, whose needs and rights are given special attention in God’s eyes. The children are continuing to collect coins for Caritas which is an Catholic organisation that works to support communities in need.

In the last week of Term, the children will engage in a coin line challenge where each class will lay out the coins they have collected to see which class has the longest line. We ask if all families could donate any coins that you have lying around to support Caritas. I don't know about you but I have small collections of silver coins around my house which I will be donating, so they can be put to a far better use.

The class with the longest line will receive  icy poles to celebrate.

Next Tuesday, at 7 pm all the Year 3/4 children and parents will be attending a Reconciliation Faith evening. It is a wonderful opportunity to engage in your child's faith development and to participate in family activities together. It is also a time to hear important information about the Sacrament and to ask any questions. I am so looking forward to meeting all the parents so that the school can support you in preparing your child at this special time in their life.

Yours In Faith,

Sue Lema
