Ascension of the Lord - Year A

'All authority on heaven and earth has been given to me'

Jesus says to the disciples, and to us, “I am with you always”. Think of some ways you know that Jesus is with you in your life. Now it is up to us to continue Jesus’ work on earth through our actions. The Holy Spirit will help us to show love, and let us know what to say.

In coming days, it is a busy time for our Church, with the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord, the Feast of Our Lady, Mary, Help of Christians and Pentecost.  Students will learn how to express themselves as caring and loving through their day to day interactions with friends in our School.  It is fitting that our School's motto is , 'Come!  Share the Spirit!' because that is indeed what I have witnessed these past few weeks as we transition back to our regular learning schedules.

During their recent (virtual) regular conference, Bishop Michael and the rest of Australia's bishops wrote to the Catholic people of the country expressing their loving concern for all of us in this difficult time. They  also decided to formally re-entrust Australia's people to the care of Mary, Help of Christians on her feast day this year. Normally that falls on 24 May but, as that is a Sunday in 2020, the feast has been transferred to Monday 25 May.  Students will share in a Liturgy during Religion Lessons this week and learn a little about the significance of this Feast Day with music, prayer and reflection.

Father Vic Celebrates 31 Years As An Ordained Priest

On Saturday night, I had the privilege of joining Father Vic and some parishioners for Mass.  The hymn below is a particular favourite of his (and mine) and I hope you enjoy it. To quote a dear colleague, 'some wonderful collaborations have come from extraordinary times we are experiencing.'

God Bless,
