Catholic Identity

                                     Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

SACRAMENT  OF FIRST RECONCILIATION           UPDATE

We are excited to be able to announce that our current group of Sacramental students who were preparing for their first Reconciliation before the Term One holidays will be able to make their Reconciliation on Thursday 18th June.  With the slight relaxation of restrictions we will be having the first rite which involves individual reconciliation.  Candidates and their families will receive further information.

VINNIES  WINTER APPEAL -

This week we are launching our Winter Appeal for Vinnies.  We are collecting good quality, warm clothing including coats, jackets and blankets etc.  We are also asking each family to donate a non-perishable food item eg can of fruit, packet of soup, jar of jam etc.  These can be delivered to the school office or sent in with your child(ren).  These will be donated to Vinnies on Friday 19th June when we will hold a virtual Compassion Liturgy and celebration of Sacred Heart Day.

Update  -  Project Compassion 2020 - Thank you!

We have made another deposit from generous students who have returned their Project Compassion boxes from home.  Our current total is $918.80

If any families still have a box at home please return these to school next week so that our final tally can be organised and sent off to Caritas Australia.

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic we thank you for your continued support of Project Compassion.  There are many communities around the world, that don't have access to clean water and soap to follow and maintain basic hygiene to stop the spread of Coronavirus. We humbly say thanks for your support to help high risk communities globally so we can all Go Further, Together.

Sacraments update -

Baptism - The parent information meeting for the Sacrament of Baptism at St. Mary’s has been scheduled for Tuesday July 21st at 7pm in the Church.   Further information and dates for  baptism ceremonies will be discussed at this meeting.  Any parents wishing to have their child(ren) baptised in the coming few months are urged to attend this meeting and to also notify the Parish House of their intention.

Reconciliation -  The Sacrament of first Reconciliation will be celebrated in the Church on Thursday 18th June between 5.00pm - 6.00pm.

Eucharist -  Children who were planning to make their first Eucharist this year should be able to start the home program at the beginning of Term Three, as it does not involve any group meetings other than work in  your own home.  Further updates to come.

Confirmation – This Sacrament is still planned for Grade Six in Term Four but this will now be dependent on the availability of the Bishop and the lifting of restrictions.

An update on all preparations for Sacraments will be posted in our Newsletter once any decisions have been made.
