Principal's Report

Welcome Back

Our corridors, playgrounds and hearts are full, as we welcome back the Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 children.

Firstly, let me say that I hope you and your family are safe and healthy as you read this letter. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding as we have been adjusting, like you, to the drastic changes in life during the last few weeks. I am extremely appreciative of our students, parents, teachers, staff, and administrators for their positivity, flexibility and resilience during these trying times.

A huge debt of gratitude also goes to all of our doctors, nurses, hospital employees and first responders for all they are doing to keep us safe and healthy.

I would like to acknowledge again the extraordinary professionalism and care each staff member has brought to their role over the past few weeks. I am so proud of our teachers and the way they have showcased their professional and pastoral qualities and skills under such challenging conditions.

Thank you to all who have written to them and to me with positive feedback and constructive advice.

Our desire to keep our community safe while focusing on student learning, continues to be at the centre of our decision making processes. We have the June long weekend coming up and this coincides with what the Federal Government are calling stage 2.

We look forward to welcoming back our students in Year 3-6 on the 9th of June.

A recent article in the Age caught my eye and it said,

"We are here, we are still going to be here. We're going to pick up the phone. We're going to answer the emails. School is such a critical cornerstone of a stable society”
By Denisa R. Superville

I believe through the pandemic we have been able to see the important role that schools play in all of our lives.

Chicken Dance

Oscar and Josh were very excited to share their procedural text about how to perform the Chicken Dance. Miss Roberts and I helped them out and followed their instructions.

You will have to tune into the Virtual assembly on Monday to see if we were able to follow the instructions.

Chicken Divas

There has been an explosion of color in the 1/2 classrooms as they celebrate the return to school, sharing the book Chicken Diva's. The children had a wonderful time imitating Whitney and Britney and hearing a live retell from the author, Lucinda Gifford.

Strike a pose everyone!
