SPORT REPORT - TERM 2 WEEK 8 2020

There has been some fantastic news from our governing bodies to relax some of the restrictions regarding College Sport. The College is well on its way to returning to most forms of recreational and competitive sport with just some small bumps remaining.

Students have selected a sport/activity to attend for the next two weeks until? MCS Spring trials for Touch Football and AFL begin. Some Winter 1st Grade teams are still training to get ready for some future competitions that may be held later in Term 3. Stay tuned for more competition updates.

The College can return to full-contact trials and training from the 1 July. Until then we have modified trial/training sessions that the students will take part in to prepare them for the upcoming season.

The College has secured five exclusive offsite venues for the students to engage in on Thursday afternoons that satisfy our social distancing guidelines. It is great to be able to send the students to Campbelltown Golf, Campbelltown Tennis Centre, Campbelltown Indoor Soccer, National Indoor Sports and Campbelltown City Bowl for the next few weeks. Other sports providers are waiting for further restrictions to be lifted before accepting school groups.

2020 Cross Country

The top runners from each age group took part in the 2020 Competitor’s Only Cross Country carnival on Thursday of Week 7. The weather was sensational and prime for the students to give their best over the 3km and 5km tracks.

The Junior age groups are to be commended for completing the course within 25 minutes. Outstanding running by Archie Nott who completed the 3km in 10:56 (3:40/km).

The Senior competitors completed their 5km track in a little over 25 minutes with Blake Ciscato leading the way, completing the course in 19:10 (3:50/km).

All students are to be commended on their efforts on the day. It was pleasing to see Mr MacMaster spectating and he gave his nod of approval as the boys ran past.

Congratulations to our 2020 Cross Country Age Champions.

Many thanks to the College staff and the students from Year 9 PE, Year 11 Fitness and Year 12 SLR classes who assisted on the day. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

House Cup

Daily merits have been added each week courtesy of College staff acknowledging our student’s excellent contributions to learning, in and out of the classroom. Cross Country points have now been finalised and added to the respective College Houses. Well done to our Age Champions for their Cross Country efforts.

Well done to Molloy for leading the College into the 4th quarter of the school co-curricular calendar!

Yours in Sport
