School Sport

As restrictions ease and sport starts to resume in the community, we are also hopeful that some school sport may be able to resume in Term 3.  Any resumption of school sport would be in line with Health Department advice, Catholic Education Office direction and in accordance with the return to sport framework.  Information will be provided to families when sports options become available.

Lunchtime Clan Soccer Challenge

This week the Secondary Clan groups have commenced a soccer challenge at lunch time.  Clan teams have been rostered to play soccer against other Clans, and all students that participate in a match will earn a point for their house.  Winning Clan teams will qualify for the next round and continue until there is a Grand Final winner.   The first round match yesterday was a hotly contested affair between Carmel 5 and Loreto 5.  Both teams did a great job for their houses, with Loreto 5 having 12 players, earning 12 points for their house and Carmel 5 earning 14 points.  There was nervousness on both teams at the commencement of the match, but this soon disappeared as players chased after the ball.  Loreto 5 continued to pepper the goals, but Carmel 5 were solid in defence and grew in confidence after a sneaky goal from a free kick.  Carmel 5 went on to win the match 3 – 0 and progress to the next round.  The match was played with great spirit and sportsmanship, and there was certainly lots of fun and laughter. Matches will continue every lunch time until the end of term.
