From the Secondary Classrooms

English

To conclude their Tasmanian Landscapes Poetry unit, Year 10 students were asked to write a poem on a place in Tasmania that they have a special connection with. Their poems were inspired by local poets including Margaret Scott and Adrienne Eberhard. They were also asked to create a piece of artwork on their place to compliment it. Their poems and art made up an exhibition entitled Island in the Stream.

Two people’s choice awards were on offer; one for poetry and the other for art. Narrowing nominations down to two was very challenging!  We are pleased to announce the people’s choice winners were:

Poem: Elizabeth Healy

Artwork: Rosie Davies
