Faith

On Friday 12th June, 2020 at 10:00am,  the students at St Anthony's Primary School joined in prayer to honour St Anthony.  The students and staff connected via a Google Meet for a Prayer Liturgy led by the Year 6 Captains, Marley and Sally, assisted by Francis and Lewis.  The Prayer Liturgy celebration was transmitted successfully  to each classroom with the whole school participating in the responses.

Each class was assigned an aspect of St Anthony's life and/or miracles for a directed activity.

The Year 5/6 students focused on St Anthony's title of Patron of Lost or Stolen Articles.  Their activity was to discuss and reflect on the life of St Anthony and why he is called upon as the Patron of Lost or Stolen Articles.  This is because St Anthony had a precious book of psalms that was taken from him and St Anthony prayed to have the book returned to him - it was!  People all over the world pray to St Anthony to find, restore or return items that have been lost or stolen.

The Year 3/4 students focused on the title given to St Anthony by Pope Pius XII as Doctor of the Church.   Their activity was to write a message of thanks to all the doctors, nurses and health care workers, who have kept us safe during this time.

The Prep to Year 2 directed their learning to the miracle of 'The Fish' when St Anthony was preaching to the townspeople about Jesus and they ignored him.  Suddenly the fish leapt out of the water and listened to St Anthony's sermon. The townspeople were amazed so they began to listen to his preaching.  The students' activity was to decorate a fish which would remind them that they too, should listen to the teachings of St. Anthony.
