ASDAK HOLDS ITS FIRST DADS AND KIDS EVENT

Race Party in Camberwell was the venue for ASDAK's first event which attracted some 36 dads and kids. Each ‘team’ battled to be the fastest around the tracks without mishap or penalty.  Pizzas were a welcome break at mid-time and only served to fuel greater activity to be the best and fastest.

Auburn South Dads and Kids (ASDAK)

ASPS in association with The Fathering Project has created ASDAK - Auburn South Dads and Kids.

The Fathering Project is a not-for-profit inclusive charity that seeks to help children by working with schools and organisations, assisting fathers and father-figures to realise their importance in children's lives and to improve their effectiveness as fathers and role-models for children. The Fathering Project utilises researched evidence to develop programs and initiatives to encourage fathers to realise how important they are in a child's life, inspire them to get involved with their children and give them advice and opportunities how to do this.

At a launch meeting on 13th August six of the dads attending have agreed to be the first committee to suggest and arrange events for the group. It is anticipated this will consist of a minimum of one event (dads and kids or dads only) each term but is likely to be more.  The first of these is a Dads vs Kids event at Race Party in Camberwell on Sunday, 17th November (see attached poster). The second is a dads only event later in the month - details will be available shortly.

A 'community' will be set up on Geddup to communicate specifically with ASDAK members.

It has been agreed that ASDAK will work in cooperation with the ASPS Parents' Association to ensure no duplication or conflict of events
