Year 7 Camp

Students in Year 7 went on camp from Monday 3rd to Wednesday 5th February.  Everyone enjoyed the challenges and activities laid on by the team at Kinglake camp and the teaching and support staff who attended.  Thanks to Lyndhurst Secondary College staff, without whom these events could not happen, for families and students for participating.

Student Review, Year 7 Camp 2020

Year 7 camp tops all camps I've ever been to all my life! I was so excited and nervous about camp at the same time, but I had so much fun and it has been an experience that has made me a better person. When we arrived at Kinglake camp after a bus ride that felt like forever and we immediately got all our bags and found our rooms. We were in a room with either two or three other people. The cabins were quite small and cramped but they were a room for sleeping in and sleeping in only. After we put all out luggage away, we got straight into the many fun activities.

One of my favourite activities we did was the leap of faith, but I didn't leap. We were encouraged to go out of our comfort zones, but only go as far as you can. I have a fear of heights so when I climbed the thin wood log 15 metres up, I was so scared. But I went to the top and then climbed down, that had thrilled me enough. It was really entertaining when the teachers had a go at the activities too. When the two teachers that hang out with our group went up and leaped everyone was screaming at the top of their voices.

I really liked that when we got to the top, we had to say what is holding us back in life, and that after we jump, we might land in a world were that doesn't hold us back in life anymore. We made so many friends as we did many activities that forced us to work as a team or forced us to talk about our self. We all laughed together so much! Camp was so much fun, and I loved every bit of it, but what I really liked about it was that I came back home a better person than when I left.
