ACC Girls Hockey Challenge

A resounding win over Kingsway Christian College on the turf pitch at the UWA Sports Grounds was a great way for the John XXIII Girls team to start the ACC Hockey Challenge.   The team carried this momentum onto the grass, with wins over Kennedy Baptist College, All Saints College, Mandurah Catholic College and Chisholm Catholic College.

Undefeated and brimming with confidence the girls progressed to the semi-finals and squared off against a strong team from Newman College.  At full-time, after a hard fought game nothing could separate the sides with a score of 1-1.  Which team would advance to the final would now be decided by penalty flicks.  After the first round of five the score was again tied at 3 all, but unfortunately Newman managed to get one past the Keeper.

It was a great effort by the girls, finishing in third place overall.  Everyone played their part with determination and should be commended for their fantastic attitude and team spirit.  Special mentions to Right Half, Alice Kenny, Centre Forward, Juliette Steens and High Fullback, Ella Beech.
