Principal's Patch

Dear Parents

Over recent weeks we have had our PBSS students attend excursions, complete NAPLAN and participate in sports carnivals, Fanfare and interschool sport events. The efforts, the behaviour and the kindness demonstrated by our students is generally nothing short of exceptional.  Congratulations to our senior choir and Miss Carter receiving a GOLD award at Fanfare this morning! The students at our school are a constant joy for us as educators!

Family Budgeting

Whilst we try and offer many extra curricular experiences and opportunities for the children at PBSS, we are aware of the financial costs for family's. This term is no exception and over the coming weeks some of you will receive quite a few excursion/event information letters and requests for payment. New Uniform Shop

The plans have now been finalised and we are in the process of obtaining quotes for our new PBSS Uniform Shop. This will be added as a separate room to the northern end of the tuckshop. Funds raised at the fete will be used to complete this next facility upgrade for PBSS! We are hoping it will be completed  in Term 4.

Teacher Aide Permanency

Due to staffing constraints many of our teacher aides have been employed on a casual basis, however, last week we were thrilled to be able to offer many of them some permanent hours at PBSS. An official welcome to the PBSS staff to Mrs Tara Dutton, Miss Emma Dick, Mrs Sally McRobert and Mrs Louise Townsend. Additionally, Mr Philip Curren had his hours extended and he is now working extra hours as our second technical assistant for all things IT at the school.

Staff Leave

As in any  place of employment, staff are entitled to a variety of types of leave. Late term two and term three will see many staff accessing the leave entitled to them. We are in the process of filling these positions with our reliable and effective casual staff. If your child is in a class where the permanent teacher takes leave please be assured that our leadership team, including our TLCs, will be working with all staff to ensure the high expectations and  systematic curriculum will be continued as seamlessly as possible. Class teachers will communicate any leave they will be taking and who will be their replacement via normal class teacher - parent communication channels such as Dojo , email or class newsletter.

TLCs - Teaching Learning Coordinators

Last week a parent inquired what TLC meant and their role. At PBSS our TLCs (Teaching Learning Coordinators) are the line of middle management that support particular year levels in ensuring our systematic curriculum delivery, data collection, assessment and reporting, quality teaching and learning, and coordinating all the required 'behind the scenes' organisation across the year levels. Additionally, they teach Journey Groups in their particular years they lead. Our TLCs are Ms Tracey Newton (Year 1 & 2), Mrs Krystle Devine (Years 3 & 4) and Mrs Robyn Martin (Year 6 and general student support across the school). Additional to their deputy principal duties, our DPs lead the remaining two year levels; Mrs Megan Woodley (Prep) and Mr Tyson Upton (Year 5).

Kind regards

Sandra Thompson
