From the Principal

Term One has been a very short term, but one that has been action packed from the very first day! I am so in awe of the wonderful students here at MSJ. They are incredible young women with a real commitment to learning and living life to the full. They have embraced so much during this term and have been intent on ensuring that they not only focus on their studies but also look beyond themselves and assist others. Their commitment to raising money for Project Compassion has been outstanding, I congratulate Ms. Hayley Tagell, Olivia Mallia, Social Justice Leader and all of the Social Justice team for keeping us focussed and ensuring that we understood why it was important for us commit to this important cause.

MSJ hosted a very successful International Women’s Day Breakfast on 9 March. Former MSJ students, Sue O’Brien and Karyn Howie, were inspiring guest speakers, addressing the audience about the book they edited, How the West Was One. The wonderful event was well-attended by parents, staff and students. Thank you to all those involved in organising this event.

Over the last few weeks the Year 9 and Year 7 students have been fortunate enough to attend a three-day camp. These camps have allowed the students to work together, try new and exciting things and get to know each other. I am incredibly grateful to all the students who were so enthusiastic and participated with so much energy. Thank you to all the staff who attended these camps, it is your commitment that ensures the students had a positive experience.

One of the most exciting events that happen each year at MSJ is MMADD Day. This day is phenomenal, and really highlights the sense of community here at MSJ. The day is about showcasing and highlighting the artistic talents of students and staff at the College. I can categorically say that this year’s MMADD day that was held on Monday 26 March was absolutely fantastic! The students participated and supported each other with incredible enthusiasm. There was a very strong house spirit throughout the day, with some very healthy competition between our College Houses. Congratulations to Kincumber who won the Year 7 & 12 combined lip synch competition. Thank you to all staff and students for your amazing involvement in what was a great celebration of the wonderful artistic talent here at the College.

Finally, let us all remember during Holy Week the sacrifice that Jesus made for us so that we could have life, and have it to the full.

I wish you all holy and safe Easter and look forward to a productive and enjoyable Term Two.
