Performing Arts Report

Argus Community

This term in Performing Arts, students will be learning about drama. They will explore movement in the space, use voice and facial expression to imagine and improvise characters in a variety of situations. Students will work collaboratively in small groups to role-play in a given scenario. They will learn to interact with others safely in dramatic play using mime and puppetry to sequence a story from a well-known fairy tale. 

 

 

Students have started to use their imagination to bring their favourite toys from their toy box come to life using actions and sound effects. They became doll houses, robots, aeroplanes, ballerinas and more!

Xenica Community

This term in Performing Arts, students will be exploring drama. They will participate in activities involving acting and storytelling. Students will work collaboratively in a group to adapt a well-known nursery rhyme through expressive movement and speech. They will explore roles and situations using dramatic play, improvisation and process drama to respond to the given scenario. Students will ultimately build their confidence to speak and move like their character in front of an audience.

 

 

Students have started to act out what it would be like to be a teacher and teach their favourite subject. The subjects included sports, dancing, reading, mathematics, building and cooking!

Achilles Community 

This term in Performing Arts, students will be learning about dance. They will explore and express ways of moving in the space safely and connect rhyming words to movement using the dance elements. Students will develop the ability to perform locomotor movements using balance, strength and style to the song, 'What Time is It?' from High School Musical 2. They will also collaborate with others to share choreographic ideas and organise dance sequences using poetry. 

 

Ulysses Community

This term in Performing Arts, students will be focusing on dance. They will develop the ability to explore and create variations of movements using the elements of dance for action words such as run, pause, collapse and jump. Students will express locomotor movements using different directions, levels, range, tempos and shapes in the space. They will also collaborate with others to create and develop a dance using choreographic devices. Students will further develop their stamina, strength and dance practice by rehearsing a hip hop lyrical routine.
