Across the Principal's Desk

Our ‘Student Awards’ Assembly was a highlight of last week!  We had three key categories for the awards; the first of these acknowledged ‘Outstanding Achievement for Application to their Studies’ and this was based on the Semester One Reports. Only a handful of students at each year level received this award. The second set of awards were the ‘Recognition Awards’ and these were presented to students for participation, effort and/or contribution to the school (and our broader community) and we found that many of these students were also achieving at a very high academic level. The final set of certificates presented were ‘Achievement Awards’ which identified students who achieved excellence and very high-level results. We also celebrated students with exemplary attendance and encourage all students to strive to be at school every day of the education calendar.

We were pleased to have Damian Ferrari, Shire Councillor and a member of our School Council, presenting awards and shaking hands with our students. Cr Ferrari also spoke to us about his journey from school to achieving success in his career. A strong message came through about the importance of setting goals, making a commitment and working hard – great themes for all of us, especially for our young people to think about as they work their way through the next few years of their lives.

A huge thank-you to Cr Ferrari for giving his time to be present at our Assembly. Our School Leaders, Tiarna Prattley, Issy McLinden and Will Greymans did a fantastic job in their role of assisting the running of the assembly and presented themselves admirably. Our school choir also sang beautifully at the beginning and end of the assembly and we thank them for the time, effort and commitment it takes to prepare and perform. The ‘Student Awards’ Assembly was a very clear example of our Key Focus areas of Respectful Relationships, High Expectations and Excellence in action.

Congratulations to the following students!
