Sustainability

what's happening in sustainability...

Some big exciting news in the garden, a few years back at kinder one of our lovely families donated a banana tree. This tree has been growing nicely and sending out new baby trees but up till now has never fruited... Over the holidays it has suddenly sprouted big bunches of beautiful bananas, much to the delight of us all. Take a look next time you are at kinder, over by the Indigenous garden.

At the front entrance to kinder you will see our free kinder book library, these books are free for you to take if you would like to read them, you may keep them or you can return them for others to read. If you have a book at home that you have enjoyed reading and you would like to leave it in the library for someone else's enjoyment feel free.

On the first day of term the kinder and out of school hours care (OSHC) team had a professional development day where we focused on sustainable practice. Natasha from Sage Garden led a session on sustainability in early childhood services and then each team completed an in-depth audit on our current practices. There was much to celebrate about what we already have achieved and we now have a clear goal for our continued improvement in terms of sustainability. Stay tuned for more information about our progress in this area and check out the display board in our kinder foyer area as we document it.

If you have expertise in or a special interest in sustainability or gardening we would love to hear from you!
