Kids on Clyde Excursion
On Tuesday, 20 of August 2019, the 18 Year 11 Health and Human Development students walked down from the College to Kids on Clyde as part of our studies on childhood health and development. During our time at the childcare centre, we spent some time with the infants and children from ages of 6 months to 5 years. There were 7 different rooms ranging from babies to Kinder which had between 8 and 20 children in each room. Our class was split into groups of 3 to spend between five and ten minutes in each room with each age group to interact with the children, watch them go about their daily routine and be part of various activities to challenge their learning abilities.
This excursion ties in with topics Year 11 Health and Human Development class have been learning about the different stages of the lifespan and how certain ages have different development milestones such as crawling before you walk. We were lucky enough to be able to attend this child care to see all the different development stages of all the different age groups. All the Year 11 Health and Human Development class was able to get an even better understanding of the development of infant to early childhood stages of the lifespan. This, along with the opportunity to have the interactive babies is contributing to the hands on learning experiences offered to enhance our learning outcomes and improve our engagement with the key knowledge and key skills from Unit 2.
