ART CLUB - Artist Profile
Raksa-Angelie Kan
When did you start drawing?
"I started to draw more seriously after Year 4 in Primary School, but even before that I remember drawing in class and really loving to express my artistic side."
What is your favourite style of drawing and why?
"I do have many different styles of drawing but mainly I draw in an Anime style because of how I grew up watching Anime and really loving the concepts and styles of Anime. I had always been intrigued in Anime and would always try to copy and draw my favourite characters, this was the starting point of how my drawing style began and would later develop."
What does making art mean to you?
"Art has always been a strong passion of mine, drawing and doing art has always been a way of relieving stress. I could always let my imagination and creativity flow with no limits when I have a pencil and book. Art will always be something I love doing, no matter where I am or how old I am."
Why do you come to art club?
"Art Club is a space where artists come together to share and support each others art. I always come to Art Club not only to draw but to interact with other artists and see their different styles. Gaining advice on how to improve my art and just overall the club being a fun and inviting place has always motivated me to come to the club."
Any advice for students who say they can’t draw?
"Everyone can draw, styles and levels of experience my be different but everyone can pick up a pen and let their imagination go wild. People who say they can't draw may feel insecure about their art and that is okay, continue to practice and continue to evolve your style. Your art doesn't have to be perfect, because chances are if you dislike your art, someone else loves it."
