Walkathon for Change
On Monday, 22 July 2019, Cody and I (Ajur) held our Walkathon to raise awareness for Education. All students and teachers were encouraged to participate and together we raised a significant amount which was donated to The Trinity Families. The Walkathon started at 8.30am went for 20 minutes - having an early start allowed the students to feel ready for the day and able to focus. It was a good opportunity to get active, but also help the students understand the importance and value of why children living in developing countries choose to travel long distances to get to school.
Education is an important topic to talk about because too many children do not have the opportunity or access to be educated. In some developing countries females in particular are forced to not go to school and get their freedom taken away.
We believe that each individual should have rights and education is part of it. It is a basic right and unfortunately some people can not access it. Trinity Families is a Catholic not-for-profit Charity located in Gippsland which helps support families and tough situations - we chose this Charity as it is suitable for the cause.
