Winter Instrumental Evening

Wednesday 5 July, 7pm

Emmaus Performing Arts Centre, South Plympton Campus

Students of all ages, campuses and abilities are welcome!

All students who learn an instrument (both at the College or privately) are invited to perform at our Winter Instrumental Evening. These Instrumental events are held throughout the year and provide an opportunity to perform in a relaxed environment in front of a live audience.

Please note: Students need to arrive by 6:40pm. Entry to family and friends is free. If you are unsure about performing, please speak to your Instrumental Tutor or Music Teacher for guidance. Places are limited and fill up fast...so get on it quick!

ECCO Pancake Breakfasts

Students from ELC to Year 12 enjoyed a pancake breakfast over the last two weeks, thanks to Emmaus Christian College Outreach! Massive thanks to our staff, ECCO student members and Senior School Leaders for cooking and serving pancakes across South Plympton and Brooklyn Park.

Through ECCO's Pancake Breakfasts, our community has raised over $2000 to support Mr Neil Blenkinsop’s Pitjantjatjara Bible Bike Ride!

Make sure to follow the Pitjantjatjara Bible Bike Ride page on Facebook or Instagram to follow along with Neil's epic 1400km bike ride, raising money for the development of the Pitjantjatjara Children’s Art Bible.

Iwiri Blanket Dontation

Emmaus has a long-standing relationship of 30 years with the Pitjantjatjara people of Ernabella on the APY Lands.

There are also Pitjantjatjara people living in Adelaide who have started their own community centre called Iwiri. Iwiri has meeting and art spaces, at which Emmaus primary classes have done art workshops with Pitjantjatjara artists.

Iwiri is based in a very old and large building at Port Adelaide. As winter is starting, it is very cold for the people meeting and working there. Iwiri reached out to Emmaus and asked if our community was able to donate some blankets to help them get through the winter, as the electric heating option is too expensive for them.

Thank you for donating blankets over the last week to support Iwiri. It is a wonderful testament to the generosity of our community. From both Brooklyn Park and South Plympton, we received 53 blankets, exceeding our goal of 40 blankets. Neil Blenkinsop and Andrea Grear delivered the blankets to Iwiri on Tuesday 13 June.

Kiss'n'Go Zone at South Plympton

It is important that as a school community, we remain respectful to our neighbours and the broader community.

We have recently received a few complaints regarding the behaviour of individuals towards others and concerns about parking on Lynton Avenue and surrounding streets.

Just a reminder that the Kiss'n'Go zone at the front of the College (Lynton Ave) is a 2 minute zone between 8am - 9am and 3pm - 4pm. We ask that you respect this zone. The morning flow is much better however in the afternoon, it has been reported and noticed, that some parents have been parking in this zone, and waiting for their child to arrive. This causes traffic chaos and is breaking the law.

If you cannot see your child waiting, please do not wait in the Kiss'n'Go zone to enable others to access the area.

(A great way to treat this zone is like the drop off and pick up zone at the airport.)

We also want to ensure your child is safe throughout their time here, and this includes dropping and collecting them from school. Where possible, we would encourage you to park and walk your child into and from school, as this will assist in alleviating traffic, while also putting your child’s safety first.

Our Campus neighbours have previously rung the Council to enforce the zone and the Council could come at any time to enforce this, which would result in infringement notices being issued. The College is unable to waive or assist with waiving these infringement notices, as it is a public road.

We appreciate how stressful the pick up and drop off time can be, but if the zone limits are respected, the traffic should flow better, which will create a calmer space for the school and broader community.

If you park in the surrounding streets, please ensure you are not obstructing any driveways, pedestrian crossings or No Standing areas. Neighbours have reported incidents and, if required, the Council could issue infringements.

If we respect and understand the local road rules, our School community and broader community will be a better place.

Communication of First Aid Attendance

From time to time, students may become unwell or sustain an injury whilst at school. It is important that parents/caregivers advise the College of any change of phone number or email address so that we can contact you.

When students attend the First Aid Room with minor injuries or illness, the First Aid Officers inform parents via an email providing brief details regarding the nature of the problem, the treatment provided, the time that the student booked in to the First Aid Room and the time that they returned to class. The email is sent as part of standard procedure and does not require a parent response.

In the case of more serious injuries or illness the First Aid Officers will phone parents directly, or emergency contacts if parents are unavailable.

In an emergency, staff will administer emergency First Aid and phone for an ambulance and call family/emergency contacts as required.

If your child comes to school with a pre-existing injury or any other issue which we should know about, please inform the First Aid Officers so that we can be aware. We would like to advise however, that First Aid assistance is generally for First Aid only, not for ongoing treatment. Where deemed necessary, First Aid Officers can offer some ongoing support to students at school, however please contact us or the Head of School first to discuss.

If you need to talk about any matters with one of the First Aid Officers, please do not hesitate to call.

Thank you.
