Year 5 Reflection

Year 5 Newsletter

Hi Grade 5 parents, guardians and caretakers.

We are here to  tell you about things that have happened in year 5 this fabulous term!

Wellbeing

Pyjama day June 5th

The grade 5 teachers decided that the year 5 students need a day of rest, so they have made their decision that there was a wellbeing day last Monday.

All the year 5 students wore pyjamas. They had to work collaboratively in social work. They also had a session on their mental and physical health activities!

Casual clothes

Casual clothes are fun, especially at school! So, the Year 8’s have decided that we are going to have a casual clothes day this Thursday! But wait. It’s not just that. On Thursday the 22nd , we are also having a children's charity for the poor children that need an education, like the year 5’s! You can bring a $1 or $2 donation and one of those coin donations will be very appreciated by the Year 8’s!

Social Health

Our social health is very important, especially in school and work! In Year 5, most classes are great at socialising especially when there are new children that have no experience in our welcoming school!

Inquiry research

In Year 5, half of the classes are doing some research for a project about the modern day version and the same thing, but from a different time in the past. So far in 5F, some people are making things like washing machines and comparing them to the ones in the past. This research is helping the classes by learning that things that are in the world now, like a Nintendo, they weren't in the 1700’s so kids could use them to play.

Physical Health

The year 5 students need some physical exercise so the Teachers had a conversation on behalf of the students to do some sport so that the students can develop their skills on which includes, strength ,running and teamwork these things can make all the students

Active, there are 4 terms so every term the teachers make the year 5 students learn more sports for their future training.

Celebration of learning

Celebration of learning is in the 22nd of june on wednesday,

The year 5 teachers have invited all grade 5 parents to visit the classrooms of their child so that they can look at their child's work and give feedback so that their child can use that improvement on other work, All parents are invited to visit and go it starts at 2:30 in the afternoon and ends at 3:00 when school finishes.

Dumplings

As you know, every single class in the school learns Mandarin. But Grade 5’s were really lucky to have an opportunity to make dumplings! We made the dumplings by filling rice paper sheets with either a chicken filling or veggie filling, then we sealed it up and then boiled them.  Around 5 minutes later, we scooped them out of the pot then put it on our plate to fill our stomachs! We got to have soy sauce with it, which is a very good choice. In the end, we learned how to make dumplings and they were really delicious at the end!

Lume Exhibition

As you know, the school holidays are coming up and it would be really boring without some fun! Everyone loves going out somewhere to enjoy our school holidays so one place you could go is the Lume Exhibition! The Lume Exhibition is a place where you can learn about the First Nations People and have lots of entertainment at the same time! There are lots of places to have fun there. The Lume Exhibition might be a place to go in your bucket list! If you are planning to go there, the link to the website is here:https://www.thelumemelbourne.com/.
