Principal's Chat

Term 2, Week 7 - Friday 9th June, 2023

Good afternoon OLSC families

The long weekend is here - I hope you all get a sleep in this Monday morning.  It is certainly hard to believe that there are just 2 weeks left of Term2!

Colour Run - Thank you, thank you, thank you

Today was our Colour Run and I sincerely thank everyone for their eagerness to get involved.   This event turned out to be one the most well supported and highest fundraisers we have had at OLSC.  The total raised was almost $20 000 which was a profit of well over $13 000 once students prizes and costs were taken out.

I know you all join me in thanking Sarah, Ashley and the entire P&F committee for organising this event - well done!  Thanks to John and Amanda for being great sports and willingly getting slimed.

More photos will be posted next week

Learning Conversations

On Monday 19th June 2023 and Tuesday 20th June we will be holding learning conversations.  Families are asked to book in for these conversations with their child's teacher.  These conversations will take place on Monday 19th June during the normal school day. Students will not have school on this day.  On Tuesday the 20th the conversations will take place after school.

Lucy Update (Crossing Supervisor)

Thank you all for your patience during Lucy's absence on the school crossing.

I have been told that she will be returning to normal duties soon.  I have passed on the community's well wishes.  We all really appreciate when OLSC families have been particularly diligent and let us know if the crossing is unmanned so we can organise this from within our own staff.

Long Weekend Ahead

This weekend is a long weekend due to the King's birthday.  There will be no school on Monday 12th June due to this Victorian Public holiday.  I hope all of parents get to have a little bit of a sleep in on Monday.

Student Illness

We have continued to have a high number of reported student and staff illness.  We have recorded high numbers of students absences as a result.  I appreciate that many families are keeping students at home if they are unwell, however we have had quite a few cases of sick students attending school that have been dosed up on medication or asked to 'see how you go'.  If there is any doubt that your child is well enough to attend school, please err on the side of caution and keep them home.

Is Your Child in Year 5? - please read!

If your child is in Year 5 and you plan for them to attend MacKillop in Year 7 in 2025 it is time to start the enrolment process with the college.

Enrolment applications for Year 7, 2025 close on Friday August 18th.

Have a great weekend, stay safe and thank you all once again for the great success of the OLSC Colour Run.

Justin and all of the staff at OLSC
