Student Wellbeing

Greenhills Primary School Gazillion’s Day - Friday 9th June

Our students have been working hard inside and outside of the classroom throughout the first half of the school year. We have been extremely proud of the way that our students are showing our GREAT values (Grit, Respect, Effort, Adventure and Teamwork), and with that earning Greenhills Gazillions. The focus on positive behaviour has allowed for our great school culture to continue. Our teachers continue to focus on identifying 4 positive behaviours to 1 behaviour teaching and our students are motivated to ensure they are demonstrating our school values daily.

One of the great things about the Greenhills Gazillions is that students can earn individual, class and whole school rewards. Based on student feedback, an idea for a whole school Gazillion’s Day was formed. Once students earnt over $3,500 as a school, we planned to run a session with a range of fun activities that students could opt into. The activities were chosen and run by our student leaders. They included sport based activities such as basketball, bocce and downball, creative activities including drawing, origami, lego masters and house building and musical activities including karaoke and dancing.

The energy and fun on Friday was amazing and we were so pleased with the way that every student got involved, helped each other and the work that the student leaders did was outstanding. Not only was the day designed around fun, it was also a great chance to further build connections across the school. Students were working with students in different year levels and with different teachers. These connection opportunities build a sense of community and safety for our students, which is so important in supporting our student’s learning and wellbeing and ensuring Greenhills is a GREAT place to be.
