Do all that you do with love ~

Dear Families,

Semester One Reports and Student-Led Conferences

Mid-year reports will be shared with you on Friday afternoon. Please take the time over the weekend to read these and share celebrations with your children. These reports will form the foundation of conversations at our Student-Led Conferences next week. Please ensure you make an appointment to meet with your child's class teacher of you haven't already done so. Just a reminder - Tuesday is a student-free day to allow for staff to prepare for and conduct the conferences with you, please remember to keep your children at home on this day.

Community Hub News

It is with sadness that I share the news that, at the end of June 2023, St Therese’s Primary School will cease its partnership with Community Hubs Australia. The decision was made within DOSCEL not to renew the contract. Our Hub will not continue to operate under the current model.

St Therese’s Community Hub journey began during the most difficult of times, as a global pandemic took grip and life as we knew it changed. Despite this, our hub began to grow under the guidance of our previous principal, Michelle Bruitzman, and our wonderful hub leader, Trish Lloyd.

The Community Hub became a place where members of our community could access language classes, ICT classes, a playgroup and sewing lessons. These have been well received and led to many positive outcomes for our community members including the Kitchen Garden program at Government House.

Whilst a Community Hub won’t be up and running in our school, our community will continue to benefit from what has been shared over the last few years. A volunteer-led playgroup will continue to run as well as a sewing and crafting group. It is our hope that a parent room can be established in this space.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Trish Lloyd for the amazing work she has done in providing the Community Hub for you all to access as well as everything she does for our school community. I look forward to continuing to work with her, and all of you, in further developing our community engagement in this space.

All groups currently running within the hub will continue to run until the end of this term. Playgroup and Sewing group will resume next term. Look out for further information.

Changes in teaching staff

Next term sees the return of Mrs Meghan Brockman to our teaching staff. Meghan has been on maternity leave and will be joining the Grade 4 teaching team. The children are already excited to welcome her back and I know she will be warmly welcomed by our wider community. This does mean that Mrs Liz Szabo will be saying farewell to 4SB. Liz has worked part-time, sharing the grade with Miss Jackie Bishop, for this semester and has been a wonderful addition to our teaching team. Luckily for us, this is not a permanent farewell, Liz will continue to work with the school as a relief teacher. I'm sure you will join me in thanking Liz for her hard work over the last two terms and for all that she has bought to our school.

Stay well, it's nearly the school holidays!
