From the Principal

Hello everyone

I'm excited to be back after a break over Term 2. A huge thanks to Deputy Principals Jodie Pritchard and Julie Hudson who did a wonderful job relieving for me.

We have plenty to be excited about this term starting with the three Deputy Principals joining me in Sydney on Friday with Director, Duncan Auld and Executive Director, Dean White at the Public Education Awards ceremony. We are finalists for the 2023 Australian Special Education School of the Year. I couldn't be prouder and extremely grateful that we have been acknowledged this way for all the innovative programs that we have developed for our students over many years.

Our staff work so hard to ensure that every child has the best education and opportunities and this recognition is appreciated across our school. Fingers crossed that we take out this special award.

Last Tuesday Variety, the Children's Charity staff visited our school to film our students using the sunshine coach that was donated to us earlier in the year. We visited the Ten Pin Bowling Centre, Canobolas Lake and the vineyard, as well as our school Captain Daisy's home to interview her. The film is a first of its kind and you will see it on the TV in Woolworths advertisements and social media. Thank you to Charlie, Daisy, Jonah, Erjan, Toby, Stella and Blake who were the stars on the day.

Our students looked fabulous in their new costumes at the Eisteddfod. See "What's Happening" to find out results.

The Stage 6 (Years 11 and 12) outside area is nearly finished and our General Assistant team with the help of Iconic have redeveloped the area to be practical and ready for the warmer months. A new sail will add shade for the Summer months. This is Year 12's last academic term and we wish them all the very best as they finish off last assessments and complete their Higher School Certificate. Term 4 is an exciting time to be involved in community and volunteer projects and set up the transition from school to a variety of post-school options.

I hope everyone is enjoying the last of the beautiful Winter days. As the weather warms up, please ensure your child has their hat and applies sunscreen as needed.

Enjoy your week ahead.
