From the Head of Junior School

Last week we painted the Junior School GREEN! Well, not literally, but we did all get very excited about Shrek Jnr!

Congratulations to the cast and crew for an amazing show. It’s rare for Junior School children to be given the amount of agency and input into a musical that our students get. Set design, puppetry, costuming and directing are all areas that our children get to play with. I was astounded by the work our students put in to the show and I know that they found the whole experience to be rewarding and joyful.

Our P&F worked very hard for us too. This year we wanted to make sure that parents and guests had a cozy and comfortable place to wait until the show. The café that the P&F set up in our atelier was just fabulous! Our guests really appreciated the delicious treats and the friendly welcome they received from all the parents who turned up to help. Some of our parents assisted with hair and make up too, helping the children look and feel amazing. This was such a blessing and we are grateful for the help our parents give the Junior School throughout the term, but particularly at events like this one.

Many thanks of course go to the selfless staff who give so much of their time, talent and passion to the students in facilitating these shows. Many, many staff (relatives of staff!) and ex students were involved. One thing we love is how Senior School students keep coming back to be involved, as they so fondly remember their involvement in musicals in the Junior School. Our teaching and support staff gave up many Sundays too, and all of the staff helped with the running of the performances. Most of all though, thank you to Mrs Cooney (Musical Maestro!) and the multi-talented Mr Forbes for pulling the entire show together.
