Around The Primary

Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe that third term is almost finished. The staff are working hard to consolidate the students’ learning and are also enjoying celebrating with their classes all their wonderful achievements over the past weeks.

It has been another wonderful week of athletics, this time for our top performing students from last week’s Interhouse Athletics Carnival. On Thursday, our Interschool Team travelled to All Saints College to compete in the IPSHA Athletics Carnival. Mr Williams began the day by acknowledging the incredible achievement of our students to be chosen as College representatives and also reminded them about the importance of doing their personal best, as well as, enjoying the day! From all accounts our team had a very successful day – congratulations to all our students for their great results. Special thanks to Miss Graves and  Miss Donovan for all their hard work at the Carnival and, of course, Mr Williams for coordinating all of our 2020 athletics events. We extend our thanks to all the parents for being a wonderful cheer squad!

The students are looking forward to showcasing their dance moves at the various dance showcases next week. It is important to note that only 2 adults per family can attend in the allocated day. Our new dance teacher, Miss Lees, has enjoyed working with our students to create something very special for us all to enjoy watching.

Kind regards,

Sports Update

Interschool Athletics Carnival

Every athlete should be extremely proud of their efforts at the IPSHA Interschool Athletics Carnival.  We had some incredible individual performances with many students improving their personal bests in the field events.  On the track, our team demonstrated great speed with a top 4 finish in almost every sprint, 200m and hurdles race!  The 4 x 100m relay is all about speed and teamwork and our students showcased this, with a top 4 finish in every relay.  Amazing effort by all, well done!

Special congratulations to Harry Pazin on his selection into the State Cross Country team after finishing 8th in the U13 State Cross Country Championships!

Sounds of Music

The Pre-Primary students have enjoyed singing and signing with special music hand-signs this term. They have also learnt to play and sing a song on the xylophones and glockenspiels. This week, the students took turns at being a performer and an attentive audience member. They also learnt ‘tikatika’ and used it along with ta, ti-ti and za to create rhythms on beat blocks.

Dinner Designs

Our Year 3 students planned a Japanese dinner, writing about what food and drink they would like to include in a special meal.  They wrote their sentences in hiragana, it was a fantastic effort by all students.  Well done Year 3s!
