Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Can you believe that it is the end of another week already? I hope everyone is safe and well and has had a great week.

Curriculum Day - Wednesday 9 September

Please be advised that the Department of Education and Training (DET) have endorsed schools in Regional and Rural Victoria to have an additional Curriculum Day due to the impact of COVID-19 and the 2nd transition to Remote and Flexible Learning this year.

We opted not to take this at the beginning of ‘Remote Learning 2.0’ as we received very late notice (the day before) and we felt this would be too disruptive to families.

In consultation with School Council, we have now scheduled this additional Curriculum Day to be on Wednesday 9 September, with the purpose of conducting Parent/Teacher Learning Conferences and Student Support Group (SSG) meetings (see arrangements and details below).

Please also note that the planned Curriculum Day for Friday 28 August has been postponed and will be rescheduled for Term 4, to allow staff to plan for the 2021 school year and review the 2020 school year. Details of this will be confirmed and communicated prior to the end of term.

Parent/Teacher Learning Conferences and Student Support Group meetings

Our upcoming curriculum day is designated to conducting parent/teacher learning conferences and Student Support Group meetings. The purpose of these meetings is to provide an opportunity for parents to meet virtually with their child’s home group teacher to discuss the learning that has taken place so far this year.

More than ever, we at Armstrong Creek School appreciate the partnership between home and school. In 2020, remote learning has further strengthened our connections and we hope these meetings will enable us to celebrate as a team the learning achievements of our students.

 Organisation: Wednesday 9th September 8:30am – 4:40pm

  • Meetings are 15 minutes long with a 5 minute ‘buffer’ to allow for logging in and out of Google Meet.
  • Sessions will be held via Google Meet but families can request a telephone call if preferred.
  • The Google Meet code will be the same conference code your child has used to access their teacher conferences during remote learning (this is their student ID and can be found on Compass). If you are not sure of the code, please contact your child's home-group teacher.

The default for meetings will be Google Meet; we do prefer to make these face to face and as personal as possible. If for whatever reason this does not work for your family, you can request a phone call from you at their allotted time.

Parent Teacher Learning Conferences: Open for bookings Friday 28th August – Close Thursday 3rd September

How to book:

Bookings can be made via the Compass Portal and will appear as a notification as well as an option under your child’s profile. Please refer to the Guide attached to step you through “Making A Conference Booking”.

We are requesting photos of ACS children and their dad, grandad, or special person so we can collate a special celebration for assembly on Friday 4 September.

If you are willing to share a special photo with our school community via our virtual assembly  (shared on Facebook), please forward by Wednesday 2 September to our school email address:armstrong.creek.school@education.vic.gov.au

We look forward to seeing everyone's photos!
